Our Story
Aguma Tea’s story began in June 2012, during a memorable trip to Juifen Village in Taiwan, where a visit to the majestic A-Mei Teahouse sparked a lifelong passion for tea and the ceremony that surrounds it.
This transformative experience led to a growing fascination with tea, from frequenting tea rooms back in the UK to participating in tea and herbal blending classes. With every new discovery—rare teas, beautiful tea ware, and the endless joy of tasting new blends—the foundation for Aguma Tea was set.
After years of research and enjoying tea as a personal hobby, the concept for Aguma Tea Company took shape in May 2018.

Why Aguma?
The Aguma Tea Company was created with a simple mission: to harness the natural herbal resources of Africa and celebrate the continent’s rich, ancient traditions. While much of the commercial tea available in West Africa is imported from regions like China and India, Africa itself is home to one of the world’s largest tea-producing regions—East Africa.
At Aguma, we aim to change the narrative. We believe in sourcing and celebrating African products, from the herbs and flowers in our teas to the packaging itself. Our goal is to offer you a luxurious, authentically African tea experience, all while supporting pan-African business collaborations and ensuring sustainability.
For generations, African cultures have used herbs and plants to heal, soothe, and assist with recovery from ailments. At Aguma, we are deeply rooted in these traditions, blending them with modern wellness practices to offer you the best of both worlds.
